What pays better? Artist or Movie Director?

Okay.I really want to be an Director.But I also want to be an artist.Everyone says I should be an Director but I have wanted to be an artist ever since I started drawing! (Age 3).I do not want to give up art this fast.My teacher already signed me up for a artist school.But the class she signed me up in is Directing.I really want to be an artist but I hear most people don’t care about art and it doesn’t pay well.I can already picture it.A cute little shop where I can have all of my art on display.In a little back room there will be an easel and all of my art supplies.There will also be a little stool in front of the easel.That is where I will draw portraits.I really want this dream but everyone says I should be a director and I am STUCK! HELP!

It is really hard to get pay with being an artist. It depends on what area of drawing you like best. You see I am in the same boat as you, I have considered movie directing. Or at least movie related things. I am going into graphic arts major because I like making website layouts, animating, and want to try designing posters and other stuff. I took a career test and animator came out #1 for me. Graphic Arts takes care of numerous areas of drawing/art. Visual Arts is also a degree you can consider. I don’t know what you need to be a movie director, but I suggest you get the degrees/diplomas you might need. I have always lived with something to fall back on. As you might guess I am taking the path including art, but I have every science elective course of high school (accept Physics 12). You don’t need a degree or anything for being simply an artist, but you do for a movie director, at least I strongly believe that. So prepare yourself with the education, work hard, no slacking. There is no such thing as being too careful.
